The HighestLowestRange (HLR) indicator determines the relative price position within a range of the previous X bars. If the price is at the range's bottom (a new low), the indicator is 0; if it's at the top (a new high), it's 1 (or 100%). Trade Signals:
A long position is opened when HLR exceeds 0.8, and reversed to short when it falls below 0.2. In essence, positions are opened when the price is within the upper or lower 20% bounds of the price range. This indicator was tested with a system based on a 40-day channel breakout.
