I have developed an indicator to identify range-bound periods in the market, which I believe can signal a good time to place orders. The indicator, named 'RangeBoundMA', is based on the concept of multiple Simple Moving Averages (SMAs) with different periods. Also recommended: e-signal of trade expert advisor - similar expert with strong performance on MetaTrader 4.
Here's how it works:
The indicator uses three SMA lines with periods of 38, 140, and 210. When you attach the indicator to your chart, you can also add a horizontal line at the value of 25. If the indicator stays below this line for a period of time, it indicates a range-bound market. When the price breaks out of the highest or lowest price during this range-bound period, it's an optimal time to place an order.
I have attempted to implement this strategy in an Expert Advisor, but I am encountering issues with the code. As I am new to writing Expert Advisor MQL4 code, I would greatly appreciate assistance in debugging the code. If anyone could help me identify the problem, I would be very grateful.
