HTH Trader is a sophisticated Expert Advisor (EA) designed to implement an advanced hedging strategy, aiming to significantly reduce the drawdown typically associated with pairs trading. Also recommended: Advanced Prop-Firm Trade Panel with Support/Resistance Finder for MT5 - similar expert with strong performance on MetaTrader 5.
The core concept of HTH Trader is to 'hedge the hedge'. This is achieved by strategically hedging currency pairs that are themselves often used for hedging. For instance, it hedges EURUSD with USDCHF, and GBPUSD with AUDUSD. This creates a 'hedge the hedge' strategy.
The EA manages trading positions actively, executing approximately four trades per day. To further limit drawdown, hedged positions are designed to remain open for only one trading day. The EA initiates new trades at the start of a new day and closes current positions when the broker's time reaches 23:00.
Trading Logic:
- When the previous day's deviation for EURUSD is positive, the EA enters long positions for EURUSD and USDCHF, and short positions for GBPUSD and AUDUSD. In this scenario, EURUSD is hedged with USDCHF, EURUSD is hedged with GBPUSD, USDCHF is hedged with AUDUSD, and GBPUSD is hedged with AUDUSD.
- When the previous day's deviation for EURUSD is negative, the EA enters short positions for EURUSD and USDCHF, and long positions for GBPUSD and AUDUSD.
This strategy leverages the strong correlation observed between the EURUSD/USDCHF ratio and the GBPUSD/AUDUSD ratio, making the 'hedge the hedge' approach viable.
New Function: Emergency Trading
If 'enable_emergency_trading' is set to true, the EA monitors for a specific 'emergency_loss' pip value. Upon reaching this threshold, it opens new trades that are expected to be profitable. For example, if EURUSD and USDCHF are in loss, while GBPUSD and AUDUSD are in profit, and the 'emergency_loss' is hit, the EA will open additional positions replicating the profitable GBPUSD and AUDUSD trades. This emergency function is designed to execute only once per day. It automatically restarts the next day and cannot be disabled without code modification.
