calculation:
the mfi calculation involves multiple steps. first, determine the typical price (tp) for the period:
tp = (high + low + close) / 3
next, calculate the money flow (mf) using the tp:
mf = tp * volume
the money flow is positive if today's tp is higher than yesterday's, and negative if lower. accumulate positive and negative money flows over the selected period.
then, find the money ratio (mr) by dividing positive by negative money flow:
mr = positive money flow / negative money flow
finally, calculate the mfi using the mr:
mfi = 100 - (100 / (1 + mr))
where:
high - highest price of the current bar;
low - lowest price of the current bar;
close - close price of the current bar;
volume - volume of the current bar.
