Indicator Input Parameters

Smoothing Method: Specifies the smoothing algorithm (default: LWMA).
Snake Range: Half-period for calculating the snake's axis (default: 2).
X Phase: First averaging parameter. Influences transition process quality for JJMA, acts as CMO period for VIDIA, and slow average period for AMA (default: 15).
Filter Period: Period for market filtering (default: 24).
Mart Filtr: Market filtering ratio. Higher values result in a narrower filtered market channel. A value of 2 is the default.
Hard Calc: Boolean parameter for calculation method (default: true).
Applied Price: The price constant used for calculations (default: weighted price).
Shift: Horizontal indicator shift in bars (default: 0).
Price Shift: Vertical indicator shift in points (default: 0).
Upper Color: Color for the upper channel border (default: medium sea green).
Lower Color: Color for the lower channel border (default: red).

Signal Line Behavior within the Channel

When the market moves up, the signal line moves away from the lower border, crosses the channel, and aligns with the upper border. The opposite occurs during a market downtrend.
In a directional market move, the signal line stays near the corresponding channel border. An expanding channel width indicates a strengthening trend. The channel narrows during market fluctuations. When the channel narrows, the signal line moves between the borders. After reaching an opposite border, the channel begins to expand.

Usage

Snake in Borders can be used independently by comparing the signal line's movement across different timeframes. It can also serve as a basis for constructing other indicators, using the 'mart' value instead of bar prices. For indicators like MA or OA, set 'hardcalc' to true. For indicators like ZigZag or Channel, set 'hardcalc' to false and choose 'martfiltr' values between 3 and 5. Differentiate between true and false peaks: if a peak is intermediate, the mart signal line will not reach the channel border.

The indicator utilizes classes from the smoothalgorithms.mqh library. Ensure this library is located in your terminal's MQL5 include folder.

This indicator was first implemented in MQL4 and published on December 19, 2026.
